The basic avalanche self-rescue course is designed for all freeride and skiing enthusiasts:

  • beginners encountering avalanche risk for the first time
  • skiers with previous experience that want to improve their knowledge

Tour type

Day experience in the Alps with UIAGM certified Mountain Guide to learn how to use emergency avalanche gear (ARTVA, shovel, and probe) to the fullest.

  • ARTVA, shovel, and probe are indispensable tools to carry on every off-piste trip, but understanding them well and knowing how to use them is essential.
  • A course led by a UIAGM certified Alpine Guide that focuses on two educational aspects: safety equipment usage and emergency procedures.
  • The mountain guides will explain correct strategies and procedures for prompt and effective intervention.
  • Through practical exercises, participants will learn how to assist companions during avalanches, ensuring survival.
  • Field exercises will delve into: correct behavior during avalanches, emergency procedures, avalanche victim search using ARTVA, and utilizing probe and shovel during excavation.
  • This avalanche safety course is in collaboration with the Ortovox Safety Academy.
