A beginner's skitouring or splitboarding course with lessons led by an Alpine Guide: learn the climbing techniques, evaluate the slopes and how to use the equipment!

Duration

Suitable for

skiers and snowboarder without respiratory or heart issues, capable of descending with full control of the equipment on mediumly difficult slopes (red slopes) in Alpine Ski facilities. It's required a certain athletic preparation, corresponding to being able to complete a hiking itinerary on a route with 1000 meters of altitude gain at a minimum pace of 300 meters of altitude gain per hour. Our Alpine Guides are usually specialized in skiing and not snowboarding, so snowboarders are required to have a certain experience in off-piste descent techniques.

2 days of skitouring or splitboarding course with a mountain guide, including overnight stays in a mountain hut, farmhouse, or B&B, depending on the chosen location.

Tour highlights
  • The weekend will be organized in some of the most beautiful valleys in the Alps of Piedmontand Aosta Valley you'll be assisted by a UIAGM-certified Alpine Guide.
  • The course is planned so that there will be a minimum of 5 and maximum 8 participants for every guide, in order to guarantee top-quality teaching
  • The course is suitable for newbies with little time available, who want to learn the basic steps to do a ski mountaineering excursion during winter
  • You will analyze and learn the ascent techniques to improve your technique according to the increasing difficulty of the excursion that we propose
  • You'll learn how to interpret snowy slopes and how to approach them by choosing the best itinerary, balancing efficiency and maximum safety, both during the ascent and the descent
  • With your Alpine Guide, you'll improve your descent techniques on all the types of snow that you'll find during the course
  • With your guide, you'll assess all the types of snow that you will find during the course, and you'll learn to spot their different characteristics.
  • You will simulate several emergency situations, learning how to use the emergency safety kit (ARTVA, shovel and probe)
  • You'll live an authentic and fulfilling ski mountaineering or splitboarding weekend with overnight stay in a mountain hut.
  • The course will be in winter, the ideal season to approach skitouring and splitboarding, on terrains and snows suitable to the goals of the course: easy and fun!
