Tour details

Duration

2 days

Suitable for

Skiers and splitboarders with excellent downhill technique on-piste and experience with ski mountaineering tours of +1200 m and BS level. Since the lessons are led by a Mountain Guide on skis, splitboarders are required to have prior off-piste experience, and the lessons will not cover splitboarding descent techniques. Upon request, the advanced ski mountaineering and splitboard course in Valle d'Aosta and Piedmont can be tailored to your skill level.

Best time

From December to the end of March, depending on the chosen location and snow conditions.

Tour type

2 days of skitouring or splitboarding course with a mountain guide, including overnight stays in a mountain hut, farmhouse, or B&B, depending on the chosen location.

Tour highlights
  • The goal of the course is to teach participants how to tackle medium/high-level outings (OS).
  • Topics will include snow science and the study of the snowpack, focusing on how to create safe and proper tracks.
  • There will be a review of searching with an avalanche transceiver (ARTVA) and simulations for rescuing a person buried in an avalanche.
  • Participants will enhance advanced climbing techniques, movement coordination, and skiing skills on difficult snow conditions.
  • The course is open to individuals of any age who are already familiar with basic progression and require an excellent technique in downhill skiing (parallel skiing on black runs).
  • Lessons will take place in some of the most beautiful alpine valleys in Piedmont and Aosta Valley, led by certified mountain guides, with all necessary equipment provided.
  • Various emergency situations will be simulated to ensure effective use of the emergency kit (A.R.T.V.A., shovel, and probe).
  • Overnight stays will be in cozy mountain huts, farmhouses, or B&Bs to fully enjoy local hospitality and traditional cuisine.
  • On request, customize the skitouring or splitboarding course combining other outdoor activities and tours, as well as overnight stays.
